- Accumulator
- A bet that combines two or more selections into a single wager, where all selections must win for the bet to pay out.
- Asian Handicap
- A handicap given to teams in a match that eliminates the draw outcome, offering only two possible results.
- Bankroll Management
- The practice of setting aside a specific amount of money for betting and deciding how much to stake on each bet.
- Bet Builder
- A feature that lets you create a custom bet by picking different outcomes from the same event, such as goals, cards, or corners.
- Cash Out
- An option offered by the bookmaker to settle a bet before the event ends, either locking in a profit or limiting a loss.
- Double Chance
- A bet that covers two of the three possible outcomes in a match, increasing your chance of winning.
- Each-Way
- A bet split into two parts: one for the selection to win, and one for it to place, usually used in horse racing but also applied to outright soccer markets.
- Enhanced Odds
- Promotional odds that are higher than the normal market odds, offered by the bookmaker to attract customers.
- Favorite
- The team or player considered most likely to win a match, usually shown with lower odds.
- Golden Boot
- A market betting on which player will score the most goals in the tournament, often called the top scorer award.
- In-Play Betting
- Placing a bet after the match has started, with odds that update in real time as the game progresses.
- Kelly Criterion
- A mathematical formula used to calculate the optimal size of a bet based on the perceived edge and the odds offered.
- Lay Bet
- A bet that a particular selection will not win, essentially acting as the bookmaker by backing against the outcome.
- Margin
- The bookmaker’s built-in advantage, expressed as a percentage, which ensures they make a profit over the long term.
- Market
- A category of betting options for a specific event, such as match result, total goals, or player props.
- Odds Format
- The way odds are displayed, such as decimal (e.g., 2.50), fractional (e.g., 5/2), or moneyline, depending on regional preference.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total number of goals, points, or other metrics in a match will be above or below a set line.
- Payout
- The total amount of money returned to you when a bet wins, including your original stake plus profit.
- Price
- The odds offered for a particular selection, indicating the potential return on a winning bet.
- Proposition Bet
- A bet on a specific event within a match that does not affect the final result, such as which player scores first.
- Spread
- A point handicap set by the bookmaker to level the playing field between two teams, used in spread betting.
- Stake
- The amount of money you place on a bet.
- Value Bet
- A selection where the odds offered are higher than the true probability of the outcome, suggesting a positive expected return.
- Void Bet
- A bet that is cancelled and the stake is returned, usually due to a match being postponed or a rule violation.
